| A wild vintage early 1950s haute couture fashion bandeau hat in genuine branch coral and celluloid. This hat measures 11-3/4" around the exterior and 6-3/4" at its widest; it has internal flexible wire structure to hold it to your head. It was made by the famous Bes-Ben company of Chicago which was known for their outre hat styles, many of which were purchased by the top entertainers and stars of the day (and at top-market prices for the time). This hat features celluloid beads and molded flowers hand-sewn with real pieces of authentic branch coral; it is in excellent original condition with no major losses or damage other than some thread traces visible on the front from a clumsy older stitch repair with brown rather than the original coral thread (see image) - this can be re-done/restitched quite successfully if you have coral coloured thread, as it just needs to be restitched to the coral coloured mesh. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
