| A nice Georgian period 12-1/8" sterling silver basting , stuffing or dressing spoon, fully hallmarked for London, England 1809-10 in the fiddle pattern. Made by William Eley, William Fearn & William Chawner (registered 1808), one of the most noteable "familys" of English spoon makers. Examples with a largish bowl like this are sometimes also referred to as hash spoons. This spoon weighs 142 grams, it has a family crest with a unicorn and the phrase "ORA ET LABORA" ("Pray and Work", the motto of St. Benedict). It is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
