| An exceptional artist signed hand painted French Sevres porcelain cabinet or display plate c1840. This 9-5/8" plate features lush gilding, a scalloped edge with high relief gilt vines with a pink ground and a beautiful signed central portrait of a young lady picking flowers. The plate has the genuine three part Sevres marks, which include the Louis Phillippe 1844 mark, the Chateau de Tuileries wreath and the S. 37 in lozenge year date, indicating the blank was made in 1837 and painted in 1844. The portrait is signed F. Amblet, and this fine example of vintage French porcelain is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a very slight touch of wear to the gold on the ribs where they enter the painted scene. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
