| An oil on canvas painting depicting a tropical plant sitting atop a brick wall (possibly painted in Mexico) by Eva Brook Donly (Canada 1867-1941). Born in Simcoe, Ontario, she studied under Frederick M. Bell-Smith at Alma College and the School for Artisans New York under John Ward Stinson. She also studied at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City under Jose M. Pino. Works by this listed artist (Dictionary of Canadian Artists) are on display at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe and in the National Gallery of Canada. This painting measures 11-3/4 x 8-3/4" (sight size), it is in a 16 x 13" gilt wood and gesso frame, it is signed E.B. Donly 1908 on the lower right, and it is in excellent original condition with no tears, soiling, fading, losses, damage or repairs other than some bowing of the canvas. This is one of a series of works obtained from the estate of a relative of the artist. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted.
