| An elegant, high quality 19th century pair of 800 silver German 8" viande serving forks in their original fitted box c1850-60. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888) with an obscured maker's mark. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh 83 grams, they have traces of the original gilding, and this set is in excellent original condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some dents and bends to one tine of one fork (easily repaired) and some slight rubbing to the box's edges and some interior spotting and staining. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $8 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card.
