| An unusual and rare pair of 11/16" x 1/2" hand painted on mother-of-pearl miniatures of winged cherubs mounted in 1-1/4" x 11/16" cut steel frames, dating from the last half of the 18th century, probably about c1770. Each frame is topped with a bow of inset cut steel stones - they are unsigned. They were possibly part of a necklace or earrings at one time, and they would make a great pair of stunning earrings. This unusual pair is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the loss of two cut steel stones on one and a small paint scrape on the bottom of the other (just visible on the bottom of the face-on cherub at the lower left (the rest are light flash)). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
