| An unusual vintage English stoneware tankard made by Doulton Lambeth. This 4" high mug has a nice mocha and chocolate colour body with applied raised green decoration and a thick applied strap handle. It has the motto "Bitter must be the cup that a smile will not sweeten", and it has the Doulton Lambeth mark in use from 1891-1956, as well as the 7780 number. There is also a hand inscribed KH modeller's or artist's mark (possibly and likely Kate Hughes) with a stamped mark which was probably for an assistant, not identified. This item is in superb original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, scrapes, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted. Surface shipping starts at $10 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insurance is included in shipping. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT accept Paypal. | |||||||||
