| A seldom seen mid 19thC papier-mache bobbin case or holder. This oval 3-1/8" x 1-1/8" bobbin holder stands 1-1/2" high, and it has the original silver metal hinge (not tested). It is in fairly good condition, but does have some condition issues. It has some rubbing of the black finish on the edges, the loss of a tiny brass or ivory or silver insert on the lid, some cracking and loss to the snap catch surround on the lid and some mache loss under the hinge on the interior. These cases are quite hard to find and it would be a nice addition to your antique sewing implement collection.
