| A rare English Prattware commemorative cream or milk jug c1798-1806, which we believe was issued to commemorate either the Battle of the Nile (a significant English military battle of 1798) or the battle of Trafalgar (1805), a most significant English military battle still commemorated today in England on Trafalgar Day. This 5-3/8" tall jug has stylized portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and Captain Edward Berry with orange, brown, cobalt and green glazes on the high-relief modelling. Prattware is not often found in perfect condition, and this piece is not, either. This jug is unrestored except for a primitive and early reattachment of the bottom of the handle. There is some interior browning and staining, some overall crazing and some exterior browning on the spout. The bottom of the handle is missing and the bottom third has been crudely cemented in place. This jug is well worth having professionally restored, and it is a seldom seen English historic commemorative. It is in fair unrestored condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage other than stated above. Shipping is $12 to the US, insured is higher. We ship internationally, and all prices are in $US. Please note that we do not accept Paypal. | ||||||||||
