A Beaches Stakes Pace horse race award silver plated entree dish from the Greenwood (Toronto) Raceway (formerly Woodbine). This heavy and solidly made Legacy silver plate on copper 11 x 8" dish features a removable handle. It has an engraved crest for The Jockey Club as well as the dedication: "BEACHES STAKES PACE DEAN HERBERT OWNER - W.H. HERBERT STABLE LTD. DRIVER - JACK HERBERT ONE MILE - 2:04.1 AUGUST 8, 1964 GREENWOOD RACEWAY. Details on the family can be found by Googling "dean herbert greenwood raceway" - it appears that they shared last names with the horse. This award weighs over 3 pounds 9 ounces, and it is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
