A pair of late 18th/early 19th century Chinese cloisonne enamel lobed plant pots. These similar but not identical 7-1/2 x 5-3/4" bowls feature blue grounds and well-executed multicolour cloisonne designs. They are both footed and unsigned and each has water drain holes in the bottoms. Each bowl has some damage, with incomplete or chipped enamel under the rims, enamel misses and chips and a large loss to the upper rim enamel on one pot. This pair is in fair original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than stated above (see pictures). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. This 4-1/4 x 1-5/8" desk accessory features applied enamelled vases, censers, teapots and bowls on four sides, it is stamped CHINA, and it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the expected misses and roughness to the enamels from the factory. A cylindrical 7-1/2" bone decorative container object with a finely carved wood frog on top. It opens from the bottom (the join in the middle is fixed), and there is a Japanese signature on the bottom. There is a similar one shown in the August 2008 Maine Antique Digest (page 29-C) mounted on top of a cane. We would appreciate any help in identifying the use, age and possible maker of this beautifully executed object.

A Royal Nippon two-piece hand painted porcelain hair receiver c1880-90. This 4-3/8" diameter lady's vanity accessory features hand painted pink roses with green leaves, cobalt blue borders, yellow and orange highlights and gold trim. An attractive antique Japanese 7-1/2" shallow 1-1/4" high bowl in the Imari palette from the 19th century. This lovely export piece has nice enamelled decoration of floral and bamboo panels with a peach in the centre, in gold, orange, green, yellow, light blue and cobalt blue with fine gold diapering. It has a stylized mark and blue decoration on the bottom and outer side, and it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs othetr than a very slight bit of gold rubbing in places. An attractive, well painted Japanese 10" x 6-3/4" lacquer over wood box c1900. This box has a richly painted scene of a bird, tree with flowers and leaves and a curved fence with mountains and a lake in the background. The thickly applied colours include textured black (tree), gold, orange and grey. This box has a black interior and the original lock (key missing) with a metal escutcheon plate; it appears to have been used as a cigar box in the past however, it could be used for many things. It is unsigned, and it is in very good condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than bruise showing wood on the lid's lower right corner, some minor lacquer losses at two of the edges and on the upper edge of the lid. Please note that the bright edge on the front of the box in the first picture is reflection of the gold decoration, which is intact. An attractive, high quality hand painted Japanese 15-1/8" x 8" lacquer tray c1920s. This tray features black lacquer over wood with lush gold accents on the edge and both handles; the central scene is of two fighting roosters in orange, brown, silver, gold and red. It is marked MADE IN JAPAN, and it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a small loss to the lacquer near the bottom rim and some very slight spots of soiling and rubs. There is a touch of warping to the tray, which sits very slightly elevated at one end. A vintage cotton-backed 83 x 19" Chinese embroidered silk bed hanging decoration c1880-1900. This beautiful fringed hanging has wonderful embroidery, including gold and multi-colour silk thread depicting flowers, butterflies, fish, people and many other symbolic figures and images. It is mounted on a powder pink cotton backing and it has a fine 7" fringe and edge netting. There appear to be some Chinese symbols or a signature and an initial on a cotton corner. It has sewn red loops on the back of the fringe edge for the suspension of some article(s) and the top has a sewn fold for hanging much like a curtain-on-rod. This item is in excellent original condition with no rips, tears, fading, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor soiling to the cotton backing and some traces of thumbtacks from previous hangings. A high quality late 18th-early 19th century Chinese Canton enamel bowl on bronze with original gilding c1800. This lobed 7-3/4" x 6-1/4" beauty stands 3-1/8" high; the hand enamelling is particularly fine, done to the Chinese taste, and the rim retains much of its original gilding. The interior is a pale water blue enamel, the bottom is speckled white, and the upper rim has a Greek key design border. This bowl is in superb original condition, with no cracks, scrapes, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a slight touch of wear to the gilding on the edges and some minor discolouration spots to the interior enamel. A Meiji period Japanese painted paper and bone 8-3/8" long hand fan c1900. This fan has bone ribs, on which is mounted a finely detailed hand painted paper double sided fan; one side has a scenic painting and the other has a long calligraphic story.
