An unusual and finely crafted vintage picture made of many different inlaid woods. This attractive inlaid wood/marquetry picture measures 18-3/4" x 14-5/8" and has an expertly executed scene of a house overlooking a sailing boat in the water with mountains in the background. It is backed on pressed panel board, and is possibly of North American manufacture despite the inclusion of exotic woods such as ebony and mahogany, also including birdseye maple, oak, satinwood and walnut. Although unsigned and unmarked, the execution and composition are quite fine, as is the condition, with no scuffs, scratches, losses or discolouration outside of a bit of gloss loss in the surrounding oak "matte"; the woods that glow and shine are still vivid and lustrous.
