A simple and elegant 14 carat yellow gold mounted tortoiseshell celluloid hair comb c1910-20. This 4" x 1-7/8" comb has a 14k yellow gold back with the R. Blackinton & Co., North Attleboro, Massachusetts maker's mark and the engraved name Isabelle Carman. We were told that this comb originally belonged to the sister of the famous Canadian poet Bliss Carman, however we have not been able to confirm this. It is in very good condition with no cracks, monograms, repairs or damage other than two missing teeth and one tiny gold pin holding the gold cap on one end of the comb.
