An attractive, colourful vintage 1950s-early 1960s German art pottery 6-3/4" x 5" biscuit jar. This drip glazed pottery biscuit caddy features a brown ground with bright splashes of colour as well as a finely detailed handle. It retains some of its original tag ("(ker)AMIK HANDE(?)" (probably handegemalt, which is German for hand made), and it is incised 11 with an inked K on the bottom. The centre figure in the tag tends us to believe that it was produced by Marzi and Remy, as this figure occasionally shows up impressed on their pottery, on pieces pre-dating 1964. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some crazing visible on the lid interior and bottom only and some stained crazing on the bottom of the interior, which was probably used as a potpourri container. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $15 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.
