A stylish Art Deco design 9" tall (including frog) English satin glass vase in amber. The elegant Grantham pattern vase was designed by Alexander Hardie Williamson, and was made by Bagley from 1934-75. The frog or flower-stem holder sits on the interior of the top of the vase on four interior supports. This item is in excellent original condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than some minor corner flakes on the bottom rim of the frog, minor flakes at the extreme edges of two corners on the vase and a couple of shallow, internal stress cracks from the manufacture of the vase just above the base (near the surface of the glass and not through the walls, these are not uncommon with Grantham vases, and we believe they are original to the manufacture of the vase). All
items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $16 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. A rare piece of coloured Hughes Cornflower glass. This is an unusually massive 6-7/8" tall and 3-3/4" diameter handled large stein or tankard, etched with the Hughes Cornflower pattern on an amber colour elegant glass blank, in this case in the Moondrops pattern by New Martinsville Glass (produced c1932-40, also known as pattern 37). It holds a little over 22 ounces when filled to the brim, so it would be a 20 ounce mug or tankard. Hughes purchased elegant glass blanks from a wide variety of glass makers besides New Martinsville, such as Imperial, Heisey, Fostoria, Cambridge and other firms (still being researched), and the Cornflower pattern was hand cut and etched at Hughes Glass of Toronto. There appears to be far less coloured Cornflower glass, as the majority of the glass was produced on clear blanks. Hughes stopped production of this glassware in the late 1980s. In all of our years selling Cornflower glassware we have never seen another piece like this one. It is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $15 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card.
