An outstanding Aesthetic style brass-patinated cast iron ink stand c1880s made by Bradley & Hubbard. This American desk accessory features a thick relief gallery and base with brass patination in the Aesthetic style, with a rear pen rest, front pen tray and pivoting liftable inkwell cover. The square inkwell has swirled edges and it measures 2-3/4" across; the stand itself measures 5-1/2" wide and it stands 4" tall. It has the cast B&H MFG. CO. mark from this period, PAT APPL'D FOR and a 7020 pattern number. This set also includes a 7-7/8" *391 wood dip pen with silver and gold coloured fittings made by the American Pencil Co. New York U.S.A.. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs - it retains most of its original patination, with only a touch of wear on the lower pen tray and on the lid of the inkwell. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. An absolutely fabulous vintage Art Deco pewter-over-wood sheet pewter inkstand c1920s. This desk set consists of the 8-5/8 x 5-1/2" base, with a fitted glass inkwell, a hand-done optical checkerboard Deco motif (stippled and gloss segments) and a matching 8 x 7/8" letter opener, which rests on one of the two channels on the base (the other is for a pen). Also included is a 5-1/8 x 2-1/8" rocking ink blotter with screw-on knob and checkerboard motif. This high quality but unsigned writing stand has bun feet and a cloth covering on the wood base, and it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. It has the attractive minor surface irregularities found on handmade pieces - a great addition to your desk. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. A sought-after Canadian Waterman's Nurse's pearlized lucite fountain pen and matching thermometer case in their original leather pouch made c1941-48. This set consists of the 4-3/4" lever-filled fountain pen with the short pocket clip and a Waterman's IDEAL 14 KT FIRM gold nib and double band trim, the 4-3/4" red-dot thermometer case, the original EMER S711 MADE IN CANADA mercury thermometer, and the original white leather case stamped WATERMAN'S in gold. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the following: the case has some minor soiling on the front and a residue of sorts on the back (we haven't attempted to remove it), the lever is functional but a bit stiff (we don't know the condition of the sac) and the bulb end of the thermometer has broken away (it had lost its mercury long ago). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
