A vintage Georgian hand-carved lava portrait cameo brass-backed button c1800. This unsigned 1-1/8" clothing accessory is 1/4" thick at its highest relief; the design is a Greek female profile portrait. This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, scrapes, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some wear to the high points of the carving obscuring the fine detail and three small rim chips on the underside edge. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
