Formerly on our "what is it?" shelf, we have finally identified this unusual Victorian object. It is actually a Victorian lady's hem lifter. In the Aesthetic style popular in the 1880s, this solid brass clothing accessory clamps the bottom of the lady's dress with the tongs, which are locked in place by the sliding shield-shaped housing. A cord looped through a (now missing) brass loop at the top of the slider is pulled to raise the hem of the floor-length skirt. It has the word PATENT on the tongs, and this unusual item is in excellent original condition with no dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the missing loop and some minor bending of the shield edges. A fancy vintage 1880s milk glass perfume or cologne bottle. This 6-1/2" bottle features attractive floral and frond relief molding with gold highlights and a painted irises floral grouping on the body. It has a mushroom stopper, and this unsigned bottle is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than some minor wear to the painted flowers and some gold loss; the bottom of the stopper has been roughly broken off of the rod and the stopper has some minor internal stress cracks and it fits a bit loosely. A vintage early American ginger beer bottle with the original stopper. This 7-3/8" bottle is from the Salt City Bottling Co. of Syracuse, New York; it retains the original lever cage and white Diamond Ginger Beer stopper. This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor rusting to the wire cage, a chip to the underside of the stopper at the wire, two old glaze flakes to the shoulder (possibly original) and two chips to the bottom rim. A splendid solid oak Arts & Crafts period 12-1/2" x 8-1/4" and 7-1/4" high cigar humidor box c1900-10. This box has nicely figured oak boards, milk glass interior liners (top, bottom and sides), a brass lock and well-made wood interior mounts. It has biscuit joints holding the sides together. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks, losses, damage or repairs other than the loss of one rubber pad foot. It appears to have been refinished at some point. A striking and attractive vintage lucite perfume bottle, with a reverse carved and painted intaglio style rose in the base c1950s. This 3-1/2" tall (with lid) bottle features a round threaded lid which attaches to an embedded glass perfume bottle; the hollow for the bottle is black, the body is clear and there is a hand-carved and reverse painted pink rose on the bottom. This bottle is unsigned and we're not sure if it was a commercial container or not; it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A classic, high quality lady's 10k white gold wristwatch by Hamilton. Famous for their quality, this watch has a 14k solid white gold serpentine 6-5/8" strap with a double safety snap clasp, a 1" x 9/16" front with 12 single point diamonds, and a solid gold back and case. The works are marked HAMILTON U.S.A. 757 22 JEWELS and the face has applied white gold hands and markings. The case is stamped 14 KARAT SOLID GOLD L07051. The case and strap (including crystal but without the works) weighs 10.2 grams, and this watch is currently working and keeping time, however we recommend all timepieces be cleaned and adjusted; it is being sold as described without warranty, as we have no idea when or if it has ever been serviced.
