A splendid baisse-taille enamel and sterling 2" brooch with fine engine turning and gold inlay, c1910-20. Made by Blackinton of North Attleboro, Massachusetts (1862-1967), this sterling silver pin was constructed from French baisse-taille enamel mounted with a pin assembly with a safety catch. The bright gold flowers and wreath on the brooch set it off beautifully against the engine-turned enamelling; it has a pattern number 9707, and it has some solder where the company attached the pin to the enamelled gilt-silver disc. The entire back is satin finish and gilt - the solder is original to the manufacture of the brooch, and is not a repair. It is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping is $6 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card; credit card items will be shipped to confirmed addresses only.
