$295

An attractive Japanese Meiji period silver 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" picture frame c1880-1900. This frame has a bamboo pattern with a patterned ground; it has a textured snakeskin styled backing that originally had a support foot for standing up the frame (now missing and replaced with a wire and eyelets). The frame is mounted with copper round-head nails; it retains the original patterned backing paper and glass window. It is unmarked, as was often the case with older Japanese silver, but tests as very high grade silver. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the loss of the foot rest and slight bending at the lower right hand corner (very minor). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $6 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

$45

A small and fine vintage 19th century Japanese green lacquer box. This lobed shape 2-1/8" x 1-3/4" box has a nice olive-green exterior with handpainted irises with gold highlights; it is unsigned and the interior is black. This item is in very good original condition with no chips, cracks, scrapes, losses, damage or repairs other than a scrape on the lid's rear edge (1/8"), a flake and small loss on the left-hand edge of the top, two small edge flakes on the lower edge of the lid and one small flake on the edge on the bottom. There appears to be a water spot on the top, but we haven't attempted to clean it. All flaws are quite small and this box is in very fine condition. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. is $6 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card; items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. $395

An unusual early to mid 19th century Japanese Imari twelve-sided handled mug c1820-50. This 3-1/8" tall and 3-3/4" across the top Japanese porcelain mug features the Imari colours of red, orange, gold and blue, and it was undoubtedly made for the European market. It has the expected minor pebbling, bubbling and frit in the glaze, and it is in very good original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor wear to the gilding and a small chip to the underside interior rim, which has some underglaze stress cracks. An uncommon item. Surface shipping starts at $10 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

$95

A charming late 19th century Japanese pebble finish glaze hand painted teapot with the original interior tea strainer. This teapot measures 8-3/8" across the spout and handle and it stands 5-1/2" high and it has a beige-tan coloured background with a glaze that looks like the rind of an orange or a tiny all-over pebble glaze (have also heard this referred to as sharkskin glaze) . The glaze does not cover the two panels (one on each side) with a white background with painted floral scenes in cobalt blue, purple, red, pink, orange and green. There are also dark red and blue flowers painted in various spots around the teapot, as well as additional green leaves. This teapot retains its original interior china strainer and it is signed on the bottom. The bottom of the teapot and a small amount near the bottom is unglazed. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, crazing, staining, repairs or damage other than some losses to the gold trim on the top rim and spout and a bit of gold rubbing on the floral panels and there is minor chipping on the strainer rim. There is a minute pin hole sized spot on the tip of the spout that is missing glaze and some variations on the thickness of the tan pebble glaze, including a spot on the handle - looks like a small finger spot where the glaze was not applied - but this is original to the making of this piece. Surface shipping starts at $15 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.
