A scarce vintage Georgian egg boiler in the form of a covered deep pot. This Sheffield plate (layered silver sheets over copper) c1800-20 kitchen cooking accessory stands 5-5/8" high to the top of the finial and 4-5/8" across. It has a simple bale handle for suspension over a heat source; it also has the egg stand insert with pierced bottom and gallery, which supported three eggs. The boiler is completely handmade, with the insert a different metal than the case, which is silver over copper. The interior has a very shiny finish and it may have been overplated in the past. The finial is held on with a handcut wingnut, and this unsigned boiler is in very good original condition with no bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the loss of the wood lifting disc from the finial, some shallow denting and some minor copper blush on the edges and steps on the exterior. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. is $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

A superb, unusual vintage Georgian whiskey or ale cask figural string holder c1800s-30s. String was a valuable and useful item in the Georgian home, and this holder could also have held embroidery thread for sewing. Made of beautifully figured rosewood with a great patina and trimmed with gilt brass bands held with hand made nails, this string dispenser has a detailed brass spigot through which the string emerges. There is a mounted steel cutting blade in the form of the spigot's handle, and the whole barrel sits on a rosewood plinth. The workmanship is superb, and it has remnants of a velvet-covered bottom. The base measures 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" and it stands 3-1/2" high. Made for a well-to-do household, this holder is in excellent original condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some age shrinkage of the wood causing the brass bands to sit a bit above the wood surface, some minor loss to the gilding and some minor age cracks to the rosewood base. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. is $7.50 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

An early, heavy solid copper hand-wrought copper cooking pot from the late 18th-early 19th century. This unsigned 9" diameter and 5" high pot has a thick hand-riveted 9-7/8" handle. The hand hammering and 3lb. 7 ounces weight, combined with the original tin lining, gives this pot a great look. It has a bevelled base and a great interior patina as well as some verdigris (greening), however the exterior has been cleaned in the past. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than a small split where the left side of the handle joins the pot. Most of the original tin lining is intact, however it should be retinned before use. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. is $16 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card; items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

This is a 19th century silver and ivory 30-1/4" riding crop or whip c1870-80. The whip itself has braided and lacquered stringing over a leather core, and the 6-1/8" handle features thick and nicely tooled sterling silver work. The silver is marked STERLING 4988 and there is a tiny 1413 etched into the ivory; this item is probably American in origin, and it is in excellent original condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs; the lacquer/varnish is all-original, and there are some thin and expected age cracks to the ivory and the possible loss of a tassel on the braided end of the whip. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted. Surface shipping starts at $12 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

A seldom seen late Georgian papier-mache bobbin case or holder c1830. This oval 3-1/8" x 1-1/8" holder stands 1-1/2" high, and it has the original silver metal hinge (not tested). It is in fairly good condition, but does have some condition issues. It has some rubbing of the black finish on the edges, the loss of a tiny brass or ivory or silver insert on the lid, some cracking and loss to the snap catch surround on the lid and some loss under the hinge on the interior. These cases are quite hard to find and it would be a nice addition to your antique sewing implement collection. Shipping is $4 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.
