A vintage 19th century turned cow horn dice or gaming cup with lid. This unsigned 2-5/8" high and 2-1/4" diameter cup features simple turning and a snug-fitting slip-on lid (slightly ajar in the picture), and it is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than two 1/8" rim chips on the lid and an original bend and small opening in the inserted bottom. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. A fine and rare 18th century ivory and 15k rose gold (unmarked but tested) patch box c1780-90. This Georgian 3-5/8" x 1-1/4" box has a rose gold border on the top as well as an oval planchet with a heraldic lion engraved; it has a gold hinge and pushbotton clasp. It has a velvet interior (missing on the top). Patch boxes held the faux beauty marks in fashion at the time, and this one dates to c1780-90. This item is in very good original condition with no corrosion, scrapes, dents, losses or repairs other than: a crack to the ivory along the bottom and on one end of the top, some minor bowing or warping of the top, the loss of velvet on the top and some minor wear to the nap on the bottom, and a small ivory loss under the gold rim on the top. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
