The stand measures 10-1/4" high and it has six legs and a handle with naturalistic leaves; the eggcups are simply decorated with an openwork vine with an engraved double wavy line. A scarce item indeed. This is a fully hallmarked (Birmingham, England 1886-7) sterling silver-mounted natural ivory page turner. It measures a very long 17-5/8" (sterling handle 5-3/4"), and it has superb scrollwork engraving and a never-engraved monogram panel. The riveted handle is 2" wide and the ivory is 1-1/2" across. The ivory has a hand-incribed P/E/- and the maker is CS FS. For use on huge tomes including church or home family bibles, this unusual item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a shallow 1/16" flake to the ivory at the tip and some expected slight abrasions and natural discolouration. There is a minor wobble at the join probably from shrinkage over the years. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. An extraordinarily attractive American Aesthetic period silver plated domed three piece butter serving dish c1860s-70. Made by the Manhattan Plate Company of New York (1856-77) - later became the Manhattan Silver Plate Co (1877-1898) and then part of International Silver, this beauty stands 8-1/8" tall and 9-1/4" across the handles. It has a great looking finial in the shape of a female bust with ornate incised decoration with a decorated satin finish band. The base has an Aesthetic geometric design on the rim and ornate ball-terminal feet; also included is the original butter liner insert. It is stamped MANHATTAN PLATE CO. NY 442 TRIPLE PLATE. Manhattan Plate Co. produced a fine enough quality ware to be sold at Tiffany & Company of New York. This unusual high style Victorian serving piece would look great on any table, and it is in excellent condition with no dents, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the loss of the plating on the exterior of the dish leaving a pewter-like finish. There are traces of plating on the interior and only a touch of bending to the roundness of the base. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $13 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card.
