A vintage Victorian period porcelain pink lustre 5 piece condiment or cruet set depicting a playing pair of cherubs or children with the legend "A present from Rathdowney" (a town located in County Laois, Ireland). This 5-3/8" across set is 5-1/4" deep and stands 4-1/2" high with the lids and shaker insert. It includes the base with molded leaf decoration, gold trim and the original spoon for the lidded mustard pot; the shaker inserts into one of the cups. The lustre is a Sunderland pink, popular in the mid to late 19th century, and this set has an incised 776 on the bottom and was most likely made originally in Austria or Germany, and sold in Rathdowney. This set is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a touch of gold wear and a small 1/8" interior shallow rim chip on the mustard bowl and a small loss to the transfer decoration. There are the expected bits of frit and the mustard lid is original but is not a precise fit. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $9 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

$160 set
|
A mid 19th century German hand painted breakfast or bachelors tea set c1830-50. It consists of the hand painted blue and white 3-3/4" creamer, the 6-1/4" across the handle and spout small teapot, the 2-3/8" tall cup and the 5-1/4" saucer (no sugar bowl). Each has a deep cobalt blue painted pattern - it reminds me of the Blue Onion pattern, but is not quite the same. Each has a hand painted blue T. maker's mark and a single digit piece or pattern number; the creamer and cup and saucer have gold trim, and the cup has an interior floral decoration. The teapot has a bamboo-style spout, and this set has a mark similar to that used by J. Schmidt and G.Chr. F. Greiner of Tettau, Bavaria, Germany (in business from 1794-1852, reference Rontgen pgs. 334/487). This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some gold wear and a small edge chip on the teapot rim. Please not that the teacup is not blurred and is a darker blue than the rest which shows the lack of control of the blue colour at this time. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.

A superb quality 19th century hand painted German porcelain double spills vase c1860-80. It is marked simply 6371 on the bottom, and this vase is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. A 7-1/2" German or Austrian porcelain hand painted figurine of a bugler. This mid to late 19th century figure features fine hand painting with gold, orange, blue, tan and realistic flesh colours; it is in a style similar to Heubach figures, but many European factories of this period were producing such figures, and it has a shiny rather than matte glaze. It is unsigned except for a painted XX, and it is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight crack on the base at the back and some gilt wear. There are original glazed firing cracks at the elbows, right front leg and hat at the thigh, but these are original to the manufacture of the piece, not later damage. A large and stunning pair of mid nineteenth century European porcelain centerpiece bowls in the form of swans. Made as dining room table decorations with an open center for flowers, fruit, etc., these large and beautifully detailed swans are probably German in origin (both are unmarked). They are in very good original condition with no cracks, scrapes, damage or repairs other than a loss to the right foot of one and some bottom-only small craze lines and slight loss to the left foot on the other. A splendid and attractive Arts and Crafts 9-1/2" vase, made by Stellmacher, Teplitz (Bohemia). This vase has three handles mounted at the base, and a wonderful raised slip decoration of leaves and flowers in yellow, cream, burnt orange and brown. It has a mottled grey/brown body, with a finely mottled brown and green base and top with decorative green lines. The throat has grey mottling on the interior as well, and this decorative vase bears the Stellmacher Teplitz mark as well as a handpainted 2251 1 pattern number. There are painted brown lines to simulate the appearance of great age, as well giving a nice rustic appeal to this vase. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, repairs or damage other than some craze lines, which don't affect the appeal of this vase. Surface shipping is $14 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US.
