$65

An unusual and ornate Niagara Falls souvenir c1890s. This is a German porcelain handopainted 7-3/4" tall cocoa pot with an applied transfer scene of Niagara Falls. The scene shows the original Maid Of The Mist approaching the dock with the Falls in the background; this pot has ornate modelling on the handle and body with a fancy lid. It is lushly accented in gold and it has the circular red MADE IN GERMANY mark. This decorative souvenir is in excellent original condition with no crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than two tight overglazed hairlines on the interior rim (not showing on the exterior) and two small shallow chips on the bottom rim (not showing when on display). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

An attractive three piece German porcelain jam pot c1910. This set includes the 3-1/4" high and 3-1/2" diameter jam pot, the handled lid, and the matching 5-5/8" fitted saucer. The marks include the blue RS GERMANY wreath mark on the saucer and pot, with the red REINHOLD SCHLEGELMILCH TILLOWITZ GERMANY mark and underglaze GERMANY 3 on the saucer. This item is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight star crack not penetrating the glaze on the underplate (visible on top and bottom), some minor rubbing to the gold trim and a factory flaw (original to the manufacture of the piece) on the upper edge of the jam pot (a smoothed flat spot with gilding). $165 set

A mid 19th century German hand painted breakfast or bachelors tea set c1830-50. It consists of the hand painted blue and white 3-3/4" creamer, the 6-1/4" across the handle and spout small teapot, the 2-3/8" tall cup and the 5-1/4" saucer (no sugar bowl). Each has a deep cobalt blue painted pattern - it reminds me of the Blue Onion pattern, but is not quite the same. Each has a hand painted blue T. maker's mark and a single digit piece or pattern number; the creamer and cup and saucer have gold trim, and the cup has an interior floral decoration. The teapot has a bamboo-style spout, and this set has a mark similar to that used by J. Schmidt and G.Chr. F. Greiner of Tettau, Bavaria, Germany (in business from 1794-1852, reference Rontgen pgs. 334/487). This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some gold wear and a small edge chip on the teapot rim. Please not that the teacup is not blurred and is a darker blue than the rest which shows the lack of control of the blue colour at this time. $195

A superb quality 19th century hand painted German porcelain double spills vase c1860-80. This decorative mantle piece measures 7-3/4" wide and it stands 7-1/4" tall; it is in the form of a boy at the seashore with waves and two shells acting as the vases. The painting and detail are superb, from the finely painted face to the realistic sand and the painted flowers on the boy's pants. It is marked simply 6371 on the bottom, and this vase is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. $45

A 7-1/2" German or Austrian porcelain hand painted figurine of a bugler. This mid to late 19th century figure features fine hand painting with gold, orange, blue, tan and realistic flesh colours; it is in a style similar to Heubach figures, but many European factories of this period were producing such figures, and it has a shiny rather than matte glaze. It is unsigned except for a painted XX, and it is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight crack on the base at the back and some gilt wear. There are original glazed firing cracks at the elbows, right front leg and hat at the thigh, but these are original to the manufacture of the piece, not later damage.
