A 12k yellow gold and sterling silver Victorian amethyst ring dated 1897. This size 5-1/2 ring features a natural purple genuine amethyst stone in a multi-claw setting and it has hand engraved foliate inlaid silver shoulders. It measures 5/16 x 1/4" across the stone, it has an obscured set of hallmarks and maker's marks with an O year date for Chester, England 1897 and it weighs 1.4 grams. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the obscuration of the marks (due to an earlier sizing) and a curl to one claw. There is also a tiny hole in the band at one side. A 15k rubies seed pearls shamrocks memento pin brooch from the 1875 era with green, yellow and rose gold. This splendid mid-Victorian 1-3/8" pin has an appealing hand etched floral design with genuine rubies and seed pearls as leaves and flowers. It also features a border with raised flowers alternating with raised and textured shamrocks which have leaves which are split with one side green gold and the other side of each leaf rose gold. On the back it has a compartment with a beveled glass window and retaining bezel which would have probably held a lock or braid of hair but now holds a trimmed tintype portrait of a man. It has a loop for wear as a pendant, it has the original c-clasp and it weighs 11.0 grams (intact). It is typically unmarked and it tests as 15k gold. The hair compartment is quite deep and it would easily hold a gold coin or other memento or even another portrait. A wonderful survivor and an example of the fine quality Victorian jewellers were able to accomplish. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor damage to the cut tintype portrait. There is a slight patina from use which is quite exaggerated in our pictures. We gave this pin a simple surface cleaning only, preferring to leave the 150 years of patina intact. A 15k sardonyx cameo Etruscan style watch or locket pin brooch from the 1860 era. This fine mid-Victorian 2-3/4 x 7/8" pin features a fine carved genuine sardonyx male warrior portrait mounted on an Etruscan style pin with ornate wirework. It is unsigned and it tests as a high 15k (a bit below 18k) and it also has a hook for the suspension of a watch or locket. This practical 2-1/8 x 1-1/4" coin compact pendant features two spring platforms which would hold nickels and dimes. the 25" chain is continuous and there is a pair of words on the largest platform, one of which is SILVER (we can't make out the other). An 18k Victorian 5 pearls row engagement ring from the 1880s 1890. This antique size 5 ring features a row of five genuine pearls which in Victorian times meant fidelity, love, loyalty and purity. These were the wedding fashion before the diamond engagement ring came into vogue and this example tests as a minimum of 18 k gold (the marks are obscured and it may be as high as 22 carat). It measures 3/4" along the pearls setting and it weighs 4.5 grams.
