All Items : Antiques : Decorative Art : Ceramics : English : Pre 1900 item #947157 (stock #6304)
A Staffordshire figurine of a goatherd girl on a goat circa 1930 1850. This antique English figure dates to the early to mid quarter of the 19thC. She is hand painted painted fully on front, sides and back. 1830s -1860. It is a fine looking and well painted example reflecting the 19th century Victorian romanticism about farm and rural life with the advancing age of industrialism. People who lived on farms at the time would have found the concept of a girl riding a goat after gathering a basket of fruit possibly a little odd or possibly amusing. Meissen produced a pair of figurines of a tailor and his wife riding goats in the 18thC - possibly this figure was inspired by that. It measures 7 1/2" in height and is 5 1/2" at the widest. It is in mostly excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract. We haven't been able as yet to find which English Staffordshire maker produced this. This figurine is unsigned, as were most figurines. Condition details are noted; items will have signs of use as expected. Condition issues are noted; items are antique and may have signs of use.

Expedited parcel to the U.S.starts at $26.00 and expedited parcel within Canada starts at $21.00 (tracking and loss insurance included). Rates vary by destination. All Items : Estate Jewelry : Silver : Pre Victorian : Pre 1800 item #947131 (stock #6282)
A rare early Wedgwood tri-colour miniature jasper cameo pin circa 1790 1800. This English Georgian period 2-1/4" x 1-1/4" tri-color jasperware brooch consists of a Wedgwood miniature plaque mounted in a (later) sterling silver setting. The jasper ware cameo dates to approximately 1780-1800, and this beautiful miniature has a very light blue, white and royal blue edge classical scene of a sacrifice to the gods of classic mythology. This exact cameo appears in the top of a patch box in the 1953 Wedgwood book by Wolf Mankowitz, dated to circa 1785 (plate 97). These miniature Wedgwood jaspers were often mounted in the cut steel jewellery popular in the Georgian period, or were sometimes set into the top of boxes, but were also sold unmounted. The mounting for this pin is sterling silver, with a modern period wheel catch, so it would have been set in the sterling setting at a later date. It is impressed WEDGWOOD with a small cross mark, a deep and not perfectly evenly lettered mark as should be expected in a piece of this age. The pin is stamped STERLING and it has a safety catch. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Tracked insured shipping to the U.S. starts at $28 (other spots may vary). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. An Art Deco 14K diamond stick pin circa 1920s. This vintage stickpin has an approximately 7 point genuine round faceted diamond set in the top section which is white gold. The stone weight is estimated in setting, so it may be very slightly larger. The pin section is yellow gold and 2-1/4" in length. The top measures 1/4" across and all tests at 14 k. It weighs 0.8 grs., and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a few nicks on the yellow gold shaft probably from a bulldog guard which is no longer present. The pin is pushed slightly out of alignment. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have signs of use as should be expected. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $19 (other spots may vary, air is higher) - tracking and insurance is included in shipping quotes. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.
