An exceptional Victorian Tunbridge Ware trinket or dresser box circa 1850s. Tunbridgeware was made as souvenir ware in England and Scotland. It consists of tiny inlaid exotic wood tesserae in geometric designs. This 4-3/8 x 4-1/4" and 1-3/4" high example has a repeating floral pattern on the top, a Greek key design on the sides and a bird's eye maple ground. The lid appears to be rosewood and the box is quite heavy. It retains the original colours which include green, yellow, red and gold and the workmanship is superb. It is in remarkable intact condition with no fading, chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of warping to the lid. This vintage wristwatch has a rayed face and it is marked UNICORN 17 JEWELS INCABLOC SWISS MADE; the works are marked UNICORN 17 JEWELS SEVENTEEN SWISS MADE. A superb quality 4-3/8" across Sorrento ware wood inlay trinket or jewellery box from the mid to late 19th century. This box stands 1-3/4" high and it has wonderful colour and workmanship. The sides feature red banding and a Greek key design in green, yellow and black with a brown ground. The top is the highlight, with literally thousands of individually placed fruitwood tesserae in a needlepoint-style flower and leaf panel decoration - the effect isquite similar to a carpet; the colours are bright and unfaded and the fine workmanship is remarkable. The interior of the box is olive wood. The condition of this unsigned, brass-hinged box is very good indeed for a box of its age and type, with only some very small barely noticeable losses and craquelure to the finish. There is a small loss along the edge of one corner panel, some minor lid warping to the hinge and front edge leaving small gaps, a thin crack and small corner losses to one lower red band on one side panel and the possible replacement of one half of one hinge with a non-brass one. A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. This item is in superb original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some faint crazing on the glazed interior only. A 10k yellow gold and deep purple & blue synthetic alexandrite stone pendant necklace circa 1960. This vintage 1" x 3/4" (sans bale) pendant comes with a 10k yellow gold pendant box link chain. A cranberry thumbprint pattern glass pickle cruet on a silver plated stand from the 1890 era. The ornate stand is 11-3/4" tall and it has a nice decorative design as does the original silver plated lid; it is stamped with the Standard Silver Co. mark, which was in business in Toronto before 1893 (they later merged with International in 1913). The cranberry glass liner/jar has a thumbprint pattern and it fits snugly in the rim on the base. Also included is a fine, contemporary pair of pickle tongs. An unframed oil on canvas painting depicting a fence and trees on a hillock with a mountain background by Eva Brook Donly (Canada 1867-1941). Born in Simcoe, Ontario, she studied under Frederick M. Bell-Smith at Alma College and the School for Artisans New York under John Ward Stimson. She also studied at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City under Jose M. Pino. Works by this listed artist (Dictionary of Canadian Artists) are on display at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe and in the National Gallery of Canada. This painting measures 20" x 16", and it is unsigned and it was discovered in a storage closet with other paintings. A 14k Italian baroque and teardrop pearls ring from the 1980s. This size 4-1/2 yellow gold ring has a wonderful modernist look to it and it has 9 baroque pearls. It measures 1 x 5/8" across the cluster of pearls which have deep lustre and shine. One pearl is distinctly pink and four others have pinkish colouration; the rest are a fine creamy white.
