A great quality, stylish and vintage hallway ceiling lamp consisting of the original lacquered brass canopy and housing, holding a free hand painted satin glass shade. The shade opens towards the top and it has fine hand painted black and red vertical asymmetric stripes. This lamp and chain has the original cloth-wrapped wire; it hangs 17-1/2" in total and the shade measures 7" long. It could be as early as the mid 1930s given the shade, quality and wiring - the patina and minor wear on the brass and the dryness of the cloth wiring (which remains intact and useable) certainly points to a ripe old age. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $15 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

A superb example of ornate Victorian Aesthetic style. This is a Meriden silverplated swing-handle card salver c1870s-80s. Card salvers were used to hold cartes-de-visite or calling cards and were placed in entryways; this example features superbly detailed openwork medallions featuring cherubs or putti in a garden with a fence watering plants and high relief flying birds with reeds and a sunrise in the center. The edge has a floral border, the feet are ornately designed as is the swing handle; it is 10-7/8" across the cherubs, 4" high to the edge of the dish and 11-1/4" high to the top of the handle. It is stamped MERIDEN B.COMPANY 1843 with another Meriden mark on another foot. The quadruple, high quality plating is intact, with only slight signs of use or patina with no areas of loss on the display side (there is some marking to the plating on the underside). A great, decorative piece in superb original condition. This item is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $17 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. A scarce item indeed. This is a fully hallmarked (Birmingham, England 1886-7) sterling silver-mounted natural ivory page turner. It measures a very long 17-5/8" (sterling handle 5-3/4"), and it has superb scrollwork engraving and a never-engraved monogram panel. The riveted handle is 2" wide and the ivory is 1-1/2" across. The ivory has a hand-incribed P/E/- and the maker is CS FS. For use on huge tomes including church or home family bibles, this unusual item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a shallow 1/16" flake to the ivory at the tip and some expected slight abrasions and natural discolouration. There is a minor wobble at the join probably from shrinkage over the years. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

A lovely vintage Singer 221-1 Featherweight electric sewing machine and carrying case, made in 1946. This machine has the tooled fancy Victorian design end-plate, and the serial number is AG620142 (for February 1946, made in the U.S.), the original foot pedal and various accessories along with the manual and carrying case. The accessories include: black case with leather handle, accessories tray, manual, two sealed packages Scovill Clinton needles (#14 and #16), motor lubricant tube in box, bobbin, screwdriver, foot hemmer, adjustable hemmer, binder, ruffler and another unidentified attachment. It has a working work lamp, and a Canadian Simanco motor. It runs cleanly, the wiring is intact and undamaged and it is in very good condition except for some minor wear to the decal at the front and some fogging or dullness to the finish of the black enamel in the centre (see image). There is minor damage to the lubricant box (missing end, abrasions), some minor spine rubs to the manual, and bending and paint loss to the metal lubricant tube (1/4 full). It has been well stored, there is no musty or clinging smell. We don't know what caused the dullness in the centre, possibly a spill - it may be readily fixable, but we don't know if or how this should be cleaned, so we haven't attempted anything. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $28 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card.
